Emotional Freedom Technique
Emotional health is absolutely essential to your physical health and healing. It is now generally accepted that the vast majority of illness starts in the head through stress, anxiety or negative belief patterns and behaviours. By identifying and changing these beliefs and feelings with EFT, the underlying cause of an illness/disease can be removed.
What is Emotional Freedom Technique?
EFT is a holistic body/mind self-help method – a process of mindful and intentional tapping gently, with fingertips on several acupuncture meridian end-points on the face, upper body and hands. An EFT intervention utilises the same pathways/channels found in traditional Chinese energy medicine.
EFT or “tapping” is easy to learn and flexible enough to be used by anyone. It can allow us to transform the way we respond to uncomfortable thoughts, feelings, and troubling memories (with pain, tension, stress…). Whether it’s used alone or together with an experienced practitioner, EFT can bring surprising (and lasting) relief, change the energy we bring to any life situation, and so much more. As we explore EFT for ourselves, we can become more aware of how our thoughts, beliefs and emotions affect us physiologically.
The EFT concept was developed in the US in the 1990’s by Gary Craig. Its roots are in acupuncture, kinesiology and psychology. Often called acupuncture for the emotions without the needles as it involves tapping meridian points which has the effect of releasing negative emotions allowing the client to think and feel differently instantly.
Shifting energy changes the way the brain processes information about a particular issue, and so tapping while tuned in to the issue is like rewiring or re-routing the brain's conditioned negative response.

What Can It Be Used For?
EFT can be effective for various purposes, including personal development, attitude and behaviour development, resolving personal problems, reducing stress, and restoring life balance. It is a powerful therapy that recognises that health imbalances are stored energetically in our meridians. You will still retain the memory of the event you were working on but it will no longer have the emotional charge that it had before. You do not have to be in therapy for months or years to overcome a problem - it is possible to get over food addictions, fears, phobias or severe trauma in minutes and usually permanently. It can even be used on children and animals.
EFT is especially helpful for:-
anxiety and panic attacks
fears and phobias including flying, dentist, snakes, dogs, spiders
stress, worry, feeling you cannot cope with a busy life
dissolving negative feelings like anger, guilt, grief, anxiety, depression, fear, resentment, rejection, loneliness
distressing memories: car accidents, operations, arguments, abuse, school
lack of confidence, low self esteem, poor self image, shyness
Addressing the underlying emotional causes of poor health
Once you have seen how well EFT clears out emotional debris, your next step is to notice how physical ailments start to fade. Headaches, back pains and other discomforts tend to improve or vanish. Your vision may become clearer and everyday stress takes less toll on your system. Accordingly, you can use it for just about everything. That is one of the most astonishing things about it. You use the same basic procedure for your fear of public speaking as you do for improving your golf score. You can also use it for everything from the common cold to cancer.
